Welcome to The Great White North

Hello! I'm so glad you could make it. My name is Caitlyn, and I'm 25 years old! 

I'm a May Gemini, and I was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie. 

I grew up playing Ringette for our local travelling team, The Sault Ice Hawks. I had to retire early due to an injury I sustained during a game at 17 years old. In June of 2023, I had major surgery on my shoulder to correct this injury, as it was getting worse and worse as the years went by. I started this blog to help me pass the time in recovery, and I'm loving every second of it!

I started studying journalism and communications at Carleton University, but I had to drop out due to homesickness. I love the North so much, I couldn't bear to leave for more than two years!  I went back to school at Sault College and graduated with high honors from the Esthetician program. I was also on our cheerleading team - Go Cougars!

I started Chic Retreat so I could get back to my old passion of writing, and combine it with the love and appreciation I have for this beautiful town and region.

I have four rescue animals, and I'm a strong #AdoptDontShop and animal welfare advocate . Ruby is my bunny, and I have three cats named Max, Otis, and Oliver. Max is an adventure cat and loves going on my travels with me. I also have two younger sisters, Megan and Madison, who I love and adore.

I am always looking for new ways to help my community and spread awareness about important topics. I am excited to use this blog to share my experiences, stories, and passions with the world.
